MDA
BOOT DAY
2009
$16,738
Every year, members of the International Association of Firefighters throughout our nation hit the streets with boots in hand to collect money to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. All money raised is used in the same region it is collected - neighbors helping neighbors. MDA covers over 40 Neuromuscular Diseases including Lou Gehrig's Disease, that effect over 1 million Americans.
This year, the Central Coventry Firefighters alone raised $16,500 dollars during their boot drive held the last weekend in August as well as through donations from local businesses. Central Coventry Raised the 3rd highest amount for Rhode Island's grand total of $221,000.
